Looking forward to Eve Ensler’s one billion rising towards V-day

Vagina Monologues author Eve Ensler‘s V-Day movement is taking a different shape this year. One Billion Rising calls on women around the globe to rise up to draw attention to and protest against violence against women worldwide. Events are taking place across the globe, with a number of flashmobs, parties and fitness classes in London. Below is the music video used to publicise the movement:

Although clearly one billion women dancing will not put an end to violence against women in itself, the main aim of the movement is to draw attention to the extent of the problem and to create a collective female identity across cultures. We hope that this campaign will inspire women to speak out against violence.
