Musicians Unite to End FGM (MUTE FGM) sees us working with both local and internationally acclaimed musicians to raise awareness of FGM amongst a much wider audience and to audiences of musicians whose countries of origin are affected by the issue.
The musicians we work with believe they have a social responsibility to question, comment and take action.
We have organised concerts and community events with the following incredible musicians: Rasha, Dobet Gnahoré, Modou N’diaye Cissokho, Vanessa Kisuule, Poetic Pilgrimage, Hanisha Solomon, Sharna Cane, Nka1 (Lopango ya Banka), Corey Harris, and many more.
“We believe in the power of music to spread positive change in society. Through the enjoyable and powerful medium of music we hope to change more hearts and minds to end this practice and to inspire others to join in the campaign to end FGM.” Naomi Reid, FORWARD’s Communications and Events Manager.
