Our diaspora programme works with African women in the UK and Europe to influence policies, discourse and programmes on ending Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) and amplifying diaspora voices, views and solutions to VAWG.
In order to achieve this goal, the diaspora programme among others:
- Provides spaces and opportunities for African women in the UK and organisations to connect, network, and explore relevant issues. Since 2015, FORWARD has held an annual African Diaspora Women’s Forum, to celebrate African women and their organisations’ contributions to improving the lives of African girls and women in the diaspora and in Africa.
- Facilitates regular convening of diaspora organisations working in international development to foster joint strategizing and collaboration on the implementation of SDG5.
- Works in partnership to provide capacity development to diaspora organisations and individuals.
