FORWARD is looking to a group of young PEER Researchers (no prior experience required).

Description: FORWARD is recruiting four young people (age 16-30), male or female, from FGM affected communities to conduct interviews for a PEER research project on female genital mutilation (FGM) and forced marriage in their country. The research will explore life as a BME young person in the UK, attitudes on FGM and forced marriage, and how to facilitate change on FGM and forced marriage.
Requirements of the Role:
Researchers must be available to attend two full days of training on 3rd – 4th August, 2013, and the evening of 5th August 2013 (lunch will be provided and travel expenses will be reimbursed).
Researchers will conduct two informal interviews with each of three friends, family members, or other members of their community. These interviews must be completed by 30th August 2013.
Following each interview, researchers will debrief with a supervisor about the interview (this will be done verbally – very little written work will be required).
No previous research or work experience is necessary, however researchers must:
- Have good ties with their community and be willing to discuss the subject matter with some of their contacts.
- Be committed to the project.
- Be on time and present for all training.
- Be flexible in coordinating debriefing sessions with supervisors.
- Have good level of conversational English is required.
You will receive:
- £350 which will be paid upon completion
- A certificate indicating your achievement in the training and the research.
- A reference if required.
