Salary: £37,000- £42,000 pro rata, depending on experience

Hours: 28 hours/week

FORWARD is an African-led, women’s rights organisation. Our work focuses on the issues of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and other forms of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) that impact on the health, dignity and well being of African women and girls. We work for the day when African women enjoy equal rights and opportunities, have control over their own bodies and are free from violence. To achieve this, we work with community members, key professionals, policymakers, and through strategic networks and partnerships.

FORWARD is seeking a remarkable Head of Communications and Business Development who will work to help take us to the next level of our development. Under the direction of FORWARD’s Executive Director, and as a key member of the organisation’s Senior Management Team, the Head of  Communications and Business Development will lead the development and delivery of the Fundraising and Communication Strategies.

Job Purpose

  1. You will lead and innovate on the development of the Fundraising and Communication Strategies.
  2. You will set and deliver on income targets from a diverse range of sources, maximising our donor relationships and leveraging new income generation opportunities, as well as developing a communications plan.
  3. You will head one of the three programs of the organisation, providing line management support to the team members including events, communication, and monitoring and evaluation.
  4. You will contribute to the overall strategic management of the organisation as a core member of the Senior Management Team and represent the organisation in high level meetings and events and, where needed, serve as deputy.
