FORWARD is proud to announce that we won the Community Health Development Award for our Schools Programme, at the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Health & Wellbeing Awards 2016!

The Youth and Schools Programme is an education programme which supports schools to create a safe, supportive and ‘open environment’ to talk about FGM, by equipping teachers with the knowledge to better respond to FGM, and by raising awareness of FGM with students.

“The leadership of FORWARD’s programme has been key to its development and success. The evidence base for the programme is strong, while the engagement work with communities including schools has been effective and exemplary.” – Judging Panel, Healthier Lifestyles Award

Since 2013 we have worked with 22,000 young people in schools nationally, over 3,750 members of school staff and 9 local authorities. We deliver sessions directly in London and through partnerships in Manchester and Birmingham (with New Step for African Community (NESTAC) and Muslim Women’s Network UK respectively, and support schools and local authorities nationally through advice and guidance, including in Leeds, Nottingham and Reading.

We are very grateful to RSPH for recognising our work with this award!
