Film Screening: Moolaadé

FREE EVENT

Haringey Council, in partnership with FORWARD and Aya Distribution, is screening the award winning film Moolaadé, as part of International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.

Moolaadé is a powerful drama that explores female genital mutilation. In a small village in Burkina Faso, four young girls flee being cut and seek shelter with Collé, a woman who was cut herself, but helped her daughter escape the ceremony many years earlier. She gives the girls sanctuary, but this opens a rift in her village with those who think the practice should go ahead. As the two opposing sets of values begin to clash, tensions begin to rise in the village.

The film will be followed by a special Q&A session by professionals who have been actively working in ending female genital mutilation.

This is a free screening but spaces are limited, so please book in advance on Eventbrite.

This film is suitable for 15 years +
