FORWARD and Hounslow Council present a screening of The Cut: Exploring FGM to mark International Day of Zero tolerance for FGM

FGM affects over 200 million women and girls globally and has harmful health and social consequences. Despite being banned in many countries it persists.

In this nuanced and incisive documentary Fatma Naib goes on a personal journey - from Somaliland and Kenya to Sweden - exploring the traditions and controversies surrounding FGM. Her journey reveals complex and diverse traditional structures that maintain the practice, affirming the need for sensitive and sustained interventions to end it.

The film is sure to inspire debate about, men, women, culture and society.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

Panellists include:

Councillor Candice Atterton
Maryan Muse, FGM Specialist Midwife
Angela Muruli, FORWARD Africa Programme Intern

Entry is free and light refreshments will be served.

Information and support about FGM and related issues will be available from the FORWARD team.
