African Diaspora Youth Programme Intern

Salary: £15,882

Hours: 35 hours a week

FORWARD is the leading African women led organisation working on female genital mutilation, child marriage and maternal health in the UK and Africa. For over 30 years we have been committed to safeguarding the rights and dignity of African girls and women. We do this through community engagement, grassroots partnerships, international advocacy, training and research.

FORWARD is seeking a professional and committed Africa Diaspora Youth Programme Intern who will provide operational and administrative assistance to the Diaspora, Africa and Policy (DAP) Team at FORWARD. This paid internship will give the opportunity to acquire hands on experience of youth advocacy work including campaigning, facilitation, leadership development and project management skills.

Job Purpose

  1. To support on FORWARD’s DAP Programme, with specific responsibility for project
    support, youth advocacy and training
  2. To work closely with the Youth Programme Team- Young People Speak Out (YPSO) Programme.
  3. To support directly the UK Africa Project TuWezesha which is funded by Comic Relief Common Ground Initiative and in line with planned activities to meet the goals of the FORWARD DAP Programme.
